We will edit this page remotely so that it applies to the particular group using the cottage.
- Close all the windows.
- In the winter turn off all the storage heaters except the one in the lounge, which should be left on low.
- Turn off the convector heater part of the storage heater in the lounge.
- July/August 2012: Leave the immersion heater and bathroom towel rail on.
- In winter, leave the bathroom heater on its "frost" setting, indicated by the snowflake icon.
- If you have used the wood burners please relay them with paper and kindling ready for the next visitors.
- Make sure everything electrical in the hide-away is off, apart from the string of yellow and orange lights, and lock the door.
- If using the dish washer start it well in advance so that it completes its cycle before you leave; the "quick wash" setting is best for this.
- Empty the fridge of perishable food.
- Take any vegetable waste to the compost bin, near the top of the garden above the "slow worm" patio.
- Take other rubbish to the wheelie bin at the bottom of the hill, near the greenhouses.
- Lock the doors and deal with the keys as usual.
- In winter, turn off the water at the stop cock in the cupboard under the sink.
