We will edit this page remotely so that it applies to the particular group using the cottage.
- Close all the windows. Leave all the internal doors open.
- Strip the beds. Put all the bed linen and towels you have used in the bath.
- Turn off all the storage heaters and their supplementary convector heaters. In winter leave the storage heater in the lounge on low.
- In winter, leave the bathroom heater on its "frost" setting, indicated by the snowflake icon.
- If you have used the wood burners re-lay them with paper and kindling ready for the next visitors.
- Make sure everything electrical in the hide-away is off and lock the door.
- If using the dish washer start it well in advance so that it completes its cycle before you leave; the "quick wash" setting is best for this.
- Empty the fridge of perishable food.
- Take any vegetable waste to the compost bin, near the top of the garden above the "slow worm" patio.
- Take other rubbish to the wheelie bin at the bottom of the hill, near the greenhouses.
- Lock the doors and deal with the keys as usual.
- In winter, turn off the water at the stop cock in the cupboard under the sink.
