Llanrwst is good for a day out - it has antique shops, galleries and a wonderful furniture and home wares shop called Ty (pictured [http://www.itraveluk.co.uk/photos/data/1163/medium/llanrwst-town-centre.jpg here]).  There are several excellent cafes and tea shops, particularly the Fair Trade [http://www.awjones.co.uk/507/Projects.html Cafe Contessa].  There is a pleasant stroll along the river and a town trail - details from the Library.

Feel free to make use of food you find in the fridge or the kitchen cupboards and foil, cling film &c. in kitchen drawers; replace anything you finish. Please do not use food from the cupboard in the scullery or from the freezer. Obviously make use of the freezer for your own food. There is beer and wine in various places - please replace whatever you use.

In the village

Please patronise the Spar in the village as much as possible; it is particularly go ahead, helpful and welcoming. Tell the staff you are staying at Bryn Teg.

Further afield

The nearest place with a good range of food and other shops is Llanrwst. Blaenau Ffestiniog is rather down-at-heel and most of the shops in Betws-y-Coed are devoted to tourism. In Llanrwst, we particularly like Jones's butchers in Denbigh Street (beware: the map in the link is not very accurate!), Scilicorn's bakery (a few doors up from Jones's), Siop Iechyd, the health food shop (down the road from Jones's and across the road from this image on Google Street View becuase the shop has moved) and Blas ar Fwyd. There is a wholesale greengrocer in Llanrwst which will sell to casual customers. It operates from a lock-up garage behind the Tir-a-Mor fish and chip shop and is the nearest thing to a proper retail greengrocer in the valley.

Llanrwst is good for a day out - it has antique shops, galleries and a wonderful furniture and home wares shop called Ty (pictured here). There are several excellent cafes and tea shops, particularly the Fair Trade Cafe Contessa. There is a pleasant stroll along the river and a town trail - details from the Library.

If you are having a day out in the direction of Porthmadog then Joe Lewis's fish, game and greengrocery shop at 98 High Street is well worth a visit. Also in that direction is the truly wonderful butchers D G Davies in High Street, Penrhyndeudraeth.

The nearest big supermarket is Tesco at Llandudno Junction (aagh!).
